DDC: Day 19 - Something you’re afraid of.

Find the challenge here.

Hello there tumblr folk. I’m sorry I’ve been quite for so long. My last week and a bit have been filled with visiting friend and family and having to study up on Pathfinder, so I’ve really not done a whole lot in terms of artwork. I decided to do my next post for the 30 Day Drawing Challenge to just let you know I’m not dead xD

Sorry for the basicness too, I really don’t know how to draw my fear. My main real psychological fear is being stranded. I guess mostly in water but the idea of being lost in space freaks me out. I’m not afraid of water, heck I’ve been sailing and I swim in the ocean a bit, but it’s being far out in water that gets me. Especially under water. It’s the idea of being in a completely open space, nothing in site around you… but there’s still stuff there. Maybe it’s a few miles away or maybe there really is nothing, but you don’t know when something could just emerge from the abyss and there’s not a whole lot you can do if it does >.<

This, funnily enough, actually affects me when playing video games. It took me forever to stop being bothered by underwater areas in Monster Hunter 3 :I

boiledsweet reblogged your post I feel like I’ve got some sort of inn… and added:

guys, i think the main points are recognise the media you consume is probably racist/sexist/cisexist/ect (doesn’t

Yeah, I totally get it :) I do try to use what I learn to make sure I’m not being ignorant and saying things that may hurt someone. Heck, the other day I apologised to my friend with alopecia for something I’d said even though I know she’s cool about it all and has been for years. I’ve also started (politely) calling out friends who say slurs or say offensive things about a group of people in a casual way.

I know ignoring it and distancing from it isn’t the way to go, and I’m sure sometime in the future I’ll run my mouth again about an issue and get my ass handed to me; but from this experience I think I decided I want to maybe stay out of the debates a little bit and use it to influence my work.

Some day I hope to have children’s books that will be there to influence future generations, and if I use all this info to help my work be inclusive and more understanding, then maybe someday it will help someone to not feel left out or ignored.

It’s a tough one because I know I can’t please everyone, but all I really care about is having at least one person be helped by it.

I feel like I’ve got some sort of inner turmoil going on lately.

I’m really pleased with this :) Normally when I try to draw Andy, it doesn’t look right but he turned out great in this.

Sea Otter - This little guy is a part of a new image I’m working on.

Hip Cat - A doodle from the other day. I reckon this would look cool as a sticker!

30 DDC: Day 17 - Your favourite holiday.
Find the challenge here.
Pancake day/Shrove Tuesday is probably one of my favourite holidays. Why, I hear you say? When there are such greats as Christmas and Birthdays. I will tell you friends, the reason I choose Pancake Day is because it’s one of the least stressful holidays in my experience. All you need to do is eat tasty pancakes. There’s no stress involved!
I find a lot of holidays stressful in recent years, because there always seems to be this pressure. Pressure to see friends and family, pressure to do something big. Seriously, I used to love all holidays and such, but now in my 20s, I just want a day where it doesn’t result in my wanting to pull my hair out. Also food.

Bullfinch - Forgot to post this guy the other day. I drew him a while ago and wanted him to be saying something horrific like “I hope something you love catches fire” but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It didn’t feel right xD Maybe soon I’ll do a series of adorable animal characters saying horrible things.

30 DDC: Day 16 - Something that represents your favourite song.
Find the challenge here.
So my current favourite song is Peanut Butter by RuPaul. Me and Andy have really gotten into Rupaul’s Drag Race recently and he is my fricking hero!
I decided to use this as a chance to try some really outrageous colours, mostly because the music video is all bright colours and words flashing up (while a bunch of men in boxers twerk).
The image is pretty basic and such but I think it’s nice to have a few images in this challenge that are just simple to do and fun to play around with.
I will say, I do have other favourite songs xD I had thought of using There’s A Light by The Smiths as the inspiration for this day, but as a current thing, Rupaul is definitely someone I’m listening to a lot!

30 DDC: Day 15 - Someone from your favourite board/video game.
Find the challenge here.
Meet Kayamba :D This funny little guy is from Monster Hunter 3 (a game that I’m rather addicted to lately) known as a Shakalaka. Kayamba is a questing partner you can get to come along with you. There’s also Cha Cha, who is adorable, but I think I prefer Kayamba. He makes me laugh a lot more because he get’s really arsy when you first meet him, because your character things he’s Cha Cha. Well I guess Cha Cha doesn’t like him either but…. Kayamba’s mask is cooler.
[note: I drew him out on Friday so technically day 15 was then. Will be posting today’s later :) ]
